vato-oblongis, pedunculis axillaribus solitariis pluribracteatis, petalis an-
guste oblongis.
HAB. In Peninsula Malayanaad Singapur, Wkll.l—(v. $.)
"Fruiex (forsan scandens), ramulis gracillimis, junioribus cum omnibus partibus
novellis pubescentibns. Folia mcmbfauacea, acuta, superne glabra, secus costam
pubeseeutia, subtus puberula, sccus nervos pubcsceutia, d&num glabrescentia. Pe~
dttnculi poUicares, gracilcs, stellato-puberuli, incdio et basin versus bracteolis parvis
cucullatis muniti.
This species is very imperfectly known, the "Wallickian specimens being tew and
in flower only. Its axillary flowers seem to distinguish it from all its allies.
Sect. 2. NARTTM.—Stamina apice truneata, connective ultra an-
therns vix producto.

pala, extus tuhcixjulata., rotimdata, j^—§ poll, longa, abrupte Jki mucronem ^-poll. an-
gustata, iiitus dense tomentosa. Pet&la fere pollicaria, utrinque dense furfuraceo-
lomeutosa. S&tmira f et ovaria 17. Nari.^ Torus fructus incrassatiis, subglobosus.
CarpeUa \ 5-30, pedic'ellis 3-G-pollicaribus filifoiTnibus superne ciavatis argute tri-
quetris snffulta, mucronata, 1-2-pollicai'ia, glabra, qranulosa.

sparsis, ad costam nervosquc densioribus et stellatis puberula, 3-5 poll. longa, 1-2
lata, peliolo ^-poll. stellato-puberulo. F!ore& ad raraulorum apices solitarii vel bini,
luride purpurei, diametro bipollicares. PcdicelH poilicares, pib's stellatis dense fur-
fnracei, superne subclavati. Alabattri depresso-subglobosi, tubercnlis parvulis gra-
nuloso-aspcii. Scgala valvata, snturis ante dehiacentiam indistinctis, late ovata,
intus dense furfuracca. Pttala pollicaria, basi plus minus in unguiculum contracta,
unguiculis basi cobrcrentibus. Prvctus ignotus.
Very closely allied to IT. Narum, but not so near in general appearance to that
species as is U. mucropodtt, wliicli is, however, very distiuct ia frtiit. The variety ft
